Thank You for Supporting our Resiliency Campaign!
Thanks to your generous donations, the Tabor Opera House Preservation Foundation has exceeded the $20,000 goal of its Resiliency Campaign!
The $20,961 that you gave allowed our summer to run smoothly and provided funds for staffing and operations this fall.
This year, despite the challenges of the pandemic, the Tabor team has accomplished the following:
- Launched Phase 1 of our historic multi-year rehabilitation, the first major rehabilitation since 1902, to stop water seepage in the West and South exterior walls and protect the building.
- Welcomed more than 300 guests for tours in only 11 weeks of being open.
- Secured federal funding:
- $27,080 in federal Payment Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) funds to cover staff salaries and enable us to be open.
- $5,000 from a National Trust for Historic Preservation grant to catalogue, appraise, and start a care and treatment program for our 1879 curtain collection, which has never before been catalogued.
- Contributed to the local economy:
- Employed five local staff.
- Supported 10 local businesses to meet needs for accounting, marketing, advertising, cleaning, food and beverage, and building maintenance.
- Catalogued the Tabor’s 1902 curtain collection, thought to be one of the oldest intact collections in North America.
- Implemented our advance ticketing reservation system for tours to allow us to control the number of people entering the building and maintain proper cleaning protocols during the pandemic. Another benefit of this system was the ability to better predict our staffing needs.
If you did not have a chance to give, don’t worry. We will begin fundraising for 2021 operations with a campaign for Colorado Gives Day, Dec. 8, 2020. We look forward to your support then. You may also volunteer your time and talents!
