DESCRIPTION:TYC 2024 – Mining for Meaning \n\n\n\nOpen to youth entering 6th grade- graduating seniors! \n\n\n\nTYC returns for a deep dive into “Mining for Meaning” – literally and figuratively -continuing to use the format of Documentary and Reader’s Theatre to embrace diverse interests and comfort zones.  Through elements of history\, intergenerational connections\, organic writing\, poetry\, music\, art and more. “Mining for Meaning” will lead to self-discovery and awareness beyond the traditional theatre sense – through connections in local history\, personal experiences and a variety of methods which embrace multiple learning modalities.  A final performance on the Tabor Stage will culminate the week! \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nRegistration open May 1st- Register Here! *Registration is limited to 24 student slots  \n\n\n\nINFO session @ Lake County Public Library  4-5 pm\, Thursday May 23\, 2024 \n\n\n\nPlease email “T” heresa Keeley for more info -miningformeaningtyc24@gmail.com

Explore the reckless joys of youth and the bitter realities of growing up fast in the incarceration capital of the world. \n\n\n\nThe Alchemy of David – Artist-photographer David Michael Kennedy reflects on the state of his medium and wonders if the digital age has taken the magic out of making art. \n\n\n\nBetween Earth & Sky – In this award-winning film\, renowned ecologist Nalini Nadkarni\, who pioneered climbing techniques to study the rainforest canopy\, turns her research question onto herself. After surviving a life-threatening fall from a tree\, Nadkarni must understand the effects of disturbance and recovery throughout her life. \n\n\n\nLeo & Chester – A sought-after rock star with a promising career\, Leo turns his back on the industry to pursue a life on the land with a herd of buffalo. \n\n\n\nJoJo – A Toad Musical – This film celebrates a creative and musical portrait of JoJo Nyaribo\, a young nature lover and wildlife advocate\, as he explores the meaning of biodiversity and stewardship in his own backyard. \n\n\n\nLight Beams For Helena – Renowned freediver Helena Bourdillon explores her journey with depression\, her ongoing mental health efforts\, and what diving into the darkness of deep water has taught her about life and light. \n\n\n\nThese films are centered around the four main festival values of Compassion\, Innovation\, Adventure and Community.
